Many people already prefer using soap pods, especially in urban areas, where communal laundry is the norm and lugging a jug around is just not practical. Pods have also become attractive for those who are conscious about not being wasteful and overdosing their clothes in suds. This cruelty-free laundry soap is 95% berry based – soapberry, or Sapindus mukorossi, to be exact – mixed with vegetable glycerin, olive leaf extract and food-grade preservatives, potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate. If you are interested in making less of a footprint on the planet, and use this laundry soap for your DAILY routine loads of laundry versus HEAVILY SOILED loads, this laundry soap does a commendable job. If you are looking to get rid of common stains (heavy soil, blood or oily stains), pre-treat with an enzyme based cleaner first (sneak peak: we like this one). The packaging is genius, in micro dose ampules of 2.0 ml each, which is a little less than half a teaspoon (yes, really).
The soap works equally well with both top loader and front-loader machines, is compatible with high efficiency machines and performs well with cold water – so you can reap maximum energy conservation. The doses are convenient to use with easy to recycle packaging; the outer package is made of 80 percent corn-based Plastarch Material (PSM) which is a biodegradable, thermoplastic resin. The vials are made from a recyclable single plastic, polypropylene (plastic no.5). The product is available in 2, 10, 20, vial packs which come with a nifty hook to fasten onto your laundry basket. Each vial handles one load and costs around 45 cents per load (plus shipping costs). The bottom line is that this soap will leave your laundry smelling clean, your skin non-irritated and the planet in better condition. Think about how much laundry you do, then consider ratcheting down the use of astringent soap and creating less waste…and utilize this natural alternative.
