Sweat stings eyes enough during the summer…and if you wear eye make up, you don’t need that added bit seeping into your eyes, washing away newly applied color and depositing it in all the wrong places! This cruelty-free, natural eye primer does a commendable job setting eye makeup and, remarkably, is free of silicone (an irritant to many), talcs, vinyls and other synthetic additives typically found in primers. And, it goes a step further than many other natural brands since it is also free of beeswax. Its shortlist of ingredients includes jojoba oil which works to help prevent creasing of eye lids naturally by moisturizing them, instead of simply changing the appearance of the lid’s surface by acting as a filler like a silicone would. The packaging does not specify “12-hour” activity in its labeling but experience proves it does in fact work all day to adhere pigment to lids and prevent smudging. The consistency of the primer is creamy in the pot and then dries quickly on the lids for immediate application of powder or pencil. The cream is easily spread with a finger or you can use an eye lid brush with a stiff tip for uniform placement*. After overlaying shadow lids feel natural and not heavy. Your shadow or liner will look considerably different for a longer period of time- as in more vibrant and opaque – versus quickly become a see-through wash of color that is often the case after a few hours of heat or oily buildup. Importantly this was tested in 90 degree heat and humidity and maintained shadow pigment. And, finally, though this product clearly differentiates itself in its category it is still reasonably priced at just over $13.00 a pot.
*The product can be applied to bare skin or over a light base.
