Mmmm….melted marshmallows, which are even more mmm…when in summer S’mores. But do you know what’s in the typically purchased little innocent-looking white puff? Besides sugar- what’s going on there? Hopefully, you know that while tasting darn good melted over your summer fire pit, the usual marshmallow contains gelatin, which is no more than a protein obtained by boiling animal “parts” with water (for the horrible details, see the full definition here). REALLY? How enjoyable is that treat now? So here’s an all-natural alternative that is just as fun without the completely unnecessary animal ingredients for this frivolous treat. This brand makes a fabulous vanilla-flavored sugar puff of the same light and fluffy consistency that we can all probably recall while reading this: soft, squishy and airy. It also melts and catches enough fire for enjoying that crispy cooked sugary taste. Couple with one of our favorite dark vegan chocolates that have some spice (sneak peak) for an adult twist on this childhood favorite! Then, consider why ever going back to buying any other brand with animal gelatin and artificial ingredients. Though pricier – keep in mind this is not a recurring cost as a food staple, it’s obtainable at many better retailers, and the benefits are obvious.
